Join professional forager Dan Moar and his handsome canine companion Moose, for a fantastic 6 hour day exploring our coastal hedgerows, sandy shores & rocky tide pools.

This is one of our most requested foraging experiences and a totally different day out when compared to our inland based experiences. It does however come with its challenges, as the best seafood is often only accessible during a spring tide, this means that courses can only take place for a few days every fortnight. In terms of protein and calories, you won't find better resources while foraging than you do on the coast, something our ancestors knew all too well.

The day will begin with meeting your guide at a pre-determined time and locationOnce the initial introductions are out of the way, you will start by exploring the flavour packed coastal hedgerows in search of the best ingredients and wild spices for a variety of culinary applications from salads and soups to fizzy drinks and fermentations. After a few hours you will travel by car to a second location, where you will access the sand shores and rocky tide pools in search of a wide variety of marine life from snails to seaweeds and so much more.

You will have plenty of opportunity to hone your skills as a coastal forager as you learn how, where and when to sustainably harvest the most sought after seafood around.

You will cover the following topics:

Wild Edibles & Deadables - Identification Tips

Sustainable Foraging - Habitat Identification - The Law & Foraging

Culinary & Medicinal Uses - History & Folklore

Plant Leaves, Flowers, Seeds, Fruits, Seaweeds, Cockles, Mussels, Razor Clams, Maya Clams, Crabs, Prawns and much more...

The session timings are dictated by the low tide times, you can request dates and we will check the tides for you.
