THE ROCKPOOL SAFARI
Join professional forager and marine life enthusiasts Dan Moar, for an eye opening rockpooling experience, exploring some of the best rocky tide pools in South Wales, along with their inhabitants.
This 2-hour session will begin with your guide Dan, meeting you at a specially selected, pre-determined location. You will be given a safety briefing and an introduction to what the course will entail. After the initial introductions are out of the way, then the real fun can begin! You will be lead across one of our picturesque beaches, to some of the best rockpools around, where you will be learning about the fascinating marine life that calls our coastline home. Dan will be showing you what to look for and showing you the different habitats that each creature can be found in.
Each Rockpool Safari will typically cover the following topics:
Different Species of Fish - Crustaceans - Starfish - Molluscs - Seaweeds - Worms
Sustainable Rockpooling - Habitat Identification -
Tidal Awareness & Safety - Local History & Geology - Other Local Wildlife
The session timings are dictated by the low tide times, you can request dates and we will check the tides for you.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU!
You will be provided with all necessary rockpooling equipment, but please read the required kit list below!

Robust closed toe footwear with good tread, suitable for the weather and landscape
Wellies are ideal or trainers that can get wet, during summer - No crocs, flip flops or sandals please!

Any medication you may require i.e Asthma pumps, Epi pens etc.
Please note that a low - moderate level of physical fitness will be required, as we won't be walking too far. However, the terrain will be uneven and sometimes slippery. For groups with mobility restrictions please mention this when booking, for a tailor made course.
Also, please be aware public facilities are not always available depending on the location. If they will be required, please let me know and I can plan for this by selecting a suitable location.
