Join professional forager / fun-guy Dan Moar and his handsome canine companion Moose, for a magical 4-5 hour fungal foray. Explore our beautiful mixed species woodlands and meadows while learning about some really fantastic fungi.

These experiences often only take place between July & December, but there are some exceptions during our cooler, damper months. 2023 with its inconsistent weather wasn't a great year for many mycorrhizal fungi across the UK. That's not to say there hasn't been any, but definitely a notable difference from previous years.lets hope 2024 is much kinder to us all.

The day will begin with meeting your guide at the chosen time and location. Once the introductions are out of the way, you will cover some of the basics to help gain a better insight into what it is you will be doing. What to keep a look out for, some mushroom anatomy and terminology, habitat identification etc. You will then be lead of a journey of discovery through various types of woodland and habitats in search of as many fungi as you can find. These days are typically educational, however there may be the opportunity to take some mushrooms home with you, depending on the day. One thing we love about fungi is they don't like to play by the rules and often keep us on our toes.

You will have plenty of opportunity to hone your skills as a mushroom hunter, as you learn how, where and when to sustainably harvest the most sought after mushrooms around.

You will cover the following topics:

Wild Edible & Deadable Fungi - Identification Tips

Sustainable Foraging - Habitat Identification - The Law & Foraging

Culinary & Medicinal Uses - History & Folklore

The session timings are flexible, and can be tailored to your requirements. Please let us know your desired dates during the booking process. Gift Vouchers are also available.
